-A Newburgh, New York woman drove herself and her four children into the Hudson River after a domestic dispute. The eldest child, LaShaun aged 10, survived the murder-suicide and reported the crime to local firemen. The vehicle was found in the river 25 feet from the shore. The woman, LaShandra Armstrong (25), and her other three children, Landon Pierce (5), Lance Pierre (2), and Lainaina Pierce (11 months), were all found dead in the car.


-Jennifer Lopez has been named People's Most Beautiful Woman of 2011.


-A 22 year old woman was raped in a Denver, Colorado airport. She said that two airport janitors passed by, and did nothing. Eventually, two airport workers saw the assault from outside and called the police. Alexander Bertrand, 26, has been charged with felony sexual assault.


-Toms Hanks is set to produce the film version of Green Day's "American Idiot". He previously produced the film version of "Mamma Mia".


-The FBI is lending aircraft to NY investigators to aid in the search for bodies of victims of the Craigslist Seaside Strangler.


-Mel B revealed during a radio interview that she is set to replace Cheryl Cole on The X Factor UK. Simon meanwhile accidentally confirmed Cheryl for the US version of The X Factor, but later claimed they "yes" was in response to an earlier question and blamed it on an audio glitch.


-Businesses and workers who had to evacuate the area around Japan's nuclear reactor are asking for compensation.


-Pirates of the Carribean 4 is rumored to premiere at the Cannes film festival.


-The Trinidad Butch T chili pepper has been crowned the world's hottest chili pepper - clocking in at 1.43 Scoville units (a measure of spiciness). By comparison, most jalapeños are only 5k Scoville units.
