-A 7.2 magnitude earthquake has struck Japan. A tsunami warning was issued but later cancelled. No serious injuries were reported and the nuclear situation has not worsened as a result of the quake.
-Britney Spears's latest album has debuted at number one, making her the youngest female artist to amass six number one albums. Spears turns 30 this year.
-A 6.5 magnitude earthquake was reported in Southern Mexico. No injuries or damages were reported.
-Sega has released a trailer for its latest SONIC THE HEDGEHOG game. This years marks the 20th anniversary of the franchise.
-Mexican police investigating the abduction of several bus passengers came across a mass grave containing 59 bodies. It is believed the murders are drug related.
-Gloria Estefan made a surprise appearance at the X FACTOR Miami auditions - is this a hint that she is on the judging panel?
-The US government is still deadlocked over their budget. A shutdown is looming, the last shutdown lasted two months and occurred during the Clinton presidency.
-Adele is expected to continue her album chart reign in the UK. She will become the first artist in 15 years to hold the number one spot for more than ten consecutive weeks. 
-Phillip and Nancy Garrido, the couple who kidnapped and held Jaycee Dugard for 18 years, plead not guilty in court. Their defense council has also said that she has questions regarding the racial and geographic makeup of the grand jury.
-Donald Trump admitted during an interview with Meredith Vierra on THE TODAY SHOW that he has investigators in Hawaii tracking down evidence of whether or not President Obama was born there.
