-The series six premiere of DOCTOR WHO brought in 1.3 million viewers to BBC America - the largest audience yet.

-Jennifer Hudson plans to be a guest judge on the US version of THE X FACTOR.

-Katie Couric has confirmed that she will step down from her position as the first woman to host a nightly network newscast. Her contract ends June 6th and Scott Pelley of 60 MINUTES is expected to replace her.

-William and Kate's publicist has addressed the claims that the couple are snubbing many people. William is not the current sitting prince and the wedding is therefore a private wedding, not a public event. Although it will be televised and broadcasted, the wedding is short on many international faces. Among those not invited include the past two prime ministers of Britain and current US president Obama.

More Newsbytez 14.4.11

-ABC has cancelled two of their long-running soap operas - One Life To Live and All My Children. The shows will end in September 2011 and January 2012 respectively. In the past decade NBC has cancelled all soaps except Days of Our Lives, CBS has cancelled all soaps except The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless including the historically longest running soap opera - Guiding Light. General Hospital will remain as ABCs final soap and is now the longest running US soap opera. I think the problem is that the US is not adapting their soaps for their audiences. No one is home to watch them and they still run for an hour every weekday. If the soaps came on between 5 and 8 PM only two to three times a week, they'd still be running strong.

-An upcoming episode of GLEE will feature a cover of Rebecca Black's "Friday". It won't be sung by the girls though - Puck, Artie, and Sam will tackle the viral hit.
